Access Ramps

How to position ramps

Positioning or installation of ramps should be keenly observed to avoid hazards. The manufacturer’s installation instructions should be followed to the letter to be safe. The position of wheelchair ramp should be clearly indicated and should have a sign with a wheelchair pointing in its direction. Even though many people understand English, then signs would also do well for the negligible few who do not comprehend the language. Because pictures speak more than words, wheelchair users will not fail to notice a sign that has a mobility device that they use everyday. They should be built or placed to the left or to the right of the steps leading to the main entrance.

The garage ramp should be placed where it is out of the way of automobiles entering the garage. However, it should also be positioned in such a way that it can be accessed easily when the need arises. The ramp intended for loading or delivery should be positioned at the main entrance where both heavy and light trucks can access it without trouble. Farm ramps should be built low in design and they should be positioned right next to running rails that leave no space for cattle to wriggle sideways as they are helped onto carriages or trailers.
